About ModofWar

ModofWar is an independent scale modelling and military-history reference site. It puts finished scale models next to the history of the real aircraft, vehicles, people and events they represent.

What you will find here

  • Dossiers. Each dossier connects a real historical subject with a scale model of it: the subject’s history, the kit and build information, and notes on where the model differs from the original.
  • Archives of aircraft, vehicles, dioramas, people and historical events, including aircraft that served with the Turkish Air Force.
  • Workbench, where builds and finished models are collected.

How the content is made

The historical information comes from published books, archives and reference works, and dossiers list their sources where possible. ModofWar is a personal, independent project, so mistakes can happen. Corrections and additional sources are always welcome through the contact page.

The long-term goal is simple: to build a useful, carefully checked reference for scale modellers and for readers interested in military history, one subject at a time.

About the Editor

I’m Cem Can, a long-time scale modeller with a particular interest in Second World War aircraft, military vehicles and historically inspired dioramas.

For me, scale modelling has never been only about assembling a kit. Researching where an aircraft or vehicle served, understanding its markings, identifying the colours it carried and discovering the people and events behind it are just as important as the build itself.

Over the years, my models have received awards at modelling competitions and events, but ModofWar was never intended simply as a gallery of finished builds. I wanted a place where I could bring together the historical research, kit experience, paint notes, references and small details accumulated during each project.

That is why ModofWar sits somewhere between a scale-modelling reference site and a military-history archive. Its dossiers combine the story of the real subject with the model, the kit used to represent it, the modelling decisions involved and, wherever possible, the sources behind the research.

My professional background is in technology and software, and outside modelling I also write science fiction and have spent part of my life making music. Scale modelling, historical research and writing ultimately come from the same curiosity for me: finding the story behind an object and finding a way to tell it again.

That is what ModofWar is about.

Dani (danidiorama) is also an author on the site. You can follow ModofWar on Instagram, YouTube and X; on Instagram I post as scalemodelsofwar.
