The Nieuport 27 was a developed version of the Nieuport 24, with a very similar fuselage. It entered service in 1917 and was later replaced by the SPAD XIII.
Like the Nieuport 24, it did not fly operationally in the Turkish War of Independence. After the Great Offensive, two Nieuport 27s were captured from the retreating Greek forces at Gaziemir airfield, Izmir, in September 1922. They were named Ganimet-4 and Ganimet-5, ganimet meaning spoils of war.
